Engine and control panel were both new when professionally installed by Volspec in 1999 and have only been used for sea trials since in 2006. During her current ownership 'October Girl' has undergone a major refit which began in 1999 and was completed in 2006. This included the hull being sandblasted and epoxy treated, topsides and superstructure repainted and all external woodwork replaced or revarnished. Many fixtures and fittings were also replaced along with the masts, booms, furling systems, rigging, sails, electrical and gas installations, instrumentation, engine, water and fuel tanks, shaft, propeller, windows, pushpit, pulpit and rubbing strake. In addition she has been updated with a holding tank, bowthruster and electric windlass fitted and her interior has had new upholstery, curtains, headlinings, furniture, cooker and sink.
